What’s up at flats

Role: Creative Director and Designer

Tijuana Flats needed a refresh. Our brand was stale, and needed to come out swinging after announcing Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Skewing towards “inspired by authentic Mexican,” it was time to introduce new design elements while maintaining the Flats fun and flare.

Setting the table in a warm “messes are welcome here” manner, with bright bold colors and natural textures, we were able to design a fresh visual brand for our NEW @ FLATS era.

Simultaneously, as part of the post-bankruptcy rebrand, Tijuana Flats remodeled a number of stores to garner more of the public’s attention. The two campaigns — new food items and new store interiors — needed to exist cohesively and independently. Colors, fonts, and design styles were utilized to create a multi-message campaign to push us forward.
